Top Songs of 2017

And this is how I write until the last day of the year… This year was very special one with a lot of moments and memories to save in the heart, and also have a lot of music in my playlistJ. Since the last year, I discovered a lot of new music, especially from Japan, all because of anime series and all these kind of things, (but this year also I discovered my favorite k-pop band and new rock song, now my favorite music genre). Because of all this reasons, I wanted to select my favorite songs that I listened this year ( some of them are from 2017, and other are from other years, but I discovered them in 2017) and make a top with them. I finally chose 18 songs (even when I tried to chose only 10 haha) but with the new releases at the end of the year the list was longer.
Here you are my favorite songs of 2017:

This song is from the Indian movie Ittefaq, released in November 3, which is starred by Siddarth Malhotra, Akshaye Khanna and Sonakshi Sinha (my favorite bollywood actress). In 2017 I do not listened bollywood music as frequently as past years, but I follow the songs from the movies starred by my favorite actors, and this song was my favorite from the movies starred by Sonakshi.

After some years, Evanescence makes their comeback, with the melodious and powerful voice of Amy Lee, in their album Synthesis, released on November 10th. I’ve always admired the talent of Amy Lee, and this song sounds very great! The good rock music returns :D.

KAT-TUN was the first J-Pop band that I liked, and now that their members are in the recharge period, they have done a lot of solo projects in TV and music. Kamenashi Kazuya (my favorite!) starred a drama series called “ボク、運命の人です” with Yamashita Tomohisa, and the song was the main theme of the drama. It was released on May 17th, in a single from the duet Kame to Yamapi, which they made especially for the drama. I’m glad for Kame, because he had made a lot of projects this year as soloist and in duet, and I hope the comeback of KAT-TUN next year!

Junno was part of the group KAT-TUN but he left it in 2016, when he started his solo career. The song was released in September 13, as part from the album DIMENSIONS, and the music video is so sweet. Also I liked that Junno still is singing in Japanese, in comparison to other Japanese artist which prefer singing only in English. I wish the best in his career, supporting him as a soloist, he is very talented and a great dancer too.

I´m not a big fan of the new music (all sound the same for me :/) but I don’t know why this song is catchy and I like it! It was released on April 20, for this reason I hope it will be one of the year, and it was played a lot of time in the radio stations.

It is the most recent song from the german band, released on December 22th, as part of their album Dream Machine. Even when Tokio Hotel have changed their sound, they still do good music, I prefer their rock style, but this song is special for the fans, and is so good that they keep making music with their preferences, giving all in the concerts and in their albums.

I discovered the band Buck-Tick in a video of best “a capella” songs, in which Atsushi Sakurai was the first in the list. I searched for the group and I chose the song “Coyote”, and I liked a lot the music, the combination of another instruments, and the power of the vocals, and also I admired the fact that they had an extensive career from 1983. The song is from the album Memento Mori, released on February of 2009.

Looking for new music, especially for new japanese rock bands, I searched for female groups, and I find Aldious. Even when some rock groups use to wear a lot of makeup and dark clothes, I like a lot the fact that they look so good but the sound is from pure rock, with powerful guitars and a sweet voice from the vocalist, all with nice dresses. From all the songs that I have listened from Aldious, this is my favorite, and this one is from the album Unlimited Diffusion, released on May 10th.

Exist † trace was the first female band from Japanese rock that I listened, and I just love all song from them. I love the fact that the band was composed only for girls, who does not necessarily must have a cute look to sing, in fact the dark look from them was one of my favorite things. I just have listened some song in radio, but I searched for more music and then they became my favorite female rock band :D. This song is from the album VIRGIN, released on May of 2012.

The song was released on November 2016, but it was played a lot during 2017. Sean Paul is one of my favorite singers since almost thirteen years, and he always knows how to make hit songs. He style has changed too, with more urban style songs, but always with that attractive voice (<3). Dua Lipa has a very great voice too, is a very talented singer, and her voice was a perfect complement for the song.

Another bollywood song, from the movie Padmavati, starred by Shahid Kapoor (my favorite actor ever!), Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh. I like this kind of movies, based in historic events or people, because they represent beautifully some aspects from the past. Also Shahid is a very great actor, chameleonic and charismatic, all his movies are amazing, funny and dramatic sometimes. I hope this movie also will be a hit, even when its release date was postponed due by some disagreements with the movie.

One of my favorite bands since last year, it was a surprise that they have resumed they musical activity with a Latin American tour and new CD, after a few years of inactivity, I’m so glad for their comeback :D. “Paradise” was their first single from the album Dark Matters, released on October 6th. The only thing I miss is le look of Lauri with black feathers, but for the rest their new songs are good.

Another new song, but from a great band. They really stand out with their innovative sound and lyrics, and this one is my favorite from the band. This song is from the album “Evolve”, released on June 23rd.

“I always see you in my dreams… meikyuu de itsu mo no youni, toumei na tsubasa o habatakasete”
L'Arc~en~Ciel became my favorite band since last year, and the happiest moment of the year was seeing the concert from the 25th L’Anniversary in a cinema from my city in April (Thank you guys for that amazing concert!) and since then I’ve listened the song from all their 12 albums, and casually I haven’t listened this song until this year, and this one has become one of my favorites from the band. This song belongs to the album Ray, released on July 1999.

Screw was the best discovery of the year. I have the song in my playlist, but I haven’t put attention in the band, in fact I confused it with a song from The Gazette, due by the similarity in the voice of the vocalists, but I searched for more music from them, and I just love all their songs (except the heavy songs from them). I never get tired of listen their music, and I love the songs with acoustic guitar, but the sad fact is that they have disbanded. This song is from the album Konsui, relased on April of 2015.

The only group that I like from K-pop, Super Junior, made their comeback in November of this year, after two years of inactivity. Even when this comeback was made only with seven of their original members, the support from the fans is amazing, and their new album “Play” has all kind of music, also showing their talent in every song and melody. “One more chance” was their first release of the album, with lyrics from Donghae and Eunhyuk, was a soulful song with a very nice video.

The bassist and leader of  L'Arc~en~Ciel, Tetsuya, released a new single in his parallel soloist career the 14th of June. Tetsu has composed great songs for the band, and also as soloist has done a very good job. This song is catchy and rhythmic, and my favorite thing is the video with black cats :D. He is so charismatic and talented, and I hope that he will have lots of success in his solo and group career (specially the last one, I’ll be waiting for the next song from Laruku :D)

“Come up from underground, Explode into the mainline
Something you've never seen, I'm not afraid to bleed,
One love, one war, A whole new empire,
New blood, new life, Japanese Vampire!!”

The soloist project of HYDE (vocalist of L'Arc~en~Ciel) is called VAMPS, and they released in April 26th their fourth album “”Underworld”, which contain the song “Rise or die”. While Laruku has ballad and softer songs, VAMPS is the hard rock side of HYDE, his voice has so many shades, one of the best I’ve heard, and also has written so nice lyrics about everything; K.A.Z., the guitarist is also amazing, so talented and great composer. I like the power in the music of this song, and it is my favorite from the album, although all the songs are in English.
The band has finished activities for this year, but they have an extensive music tour over many countries and Japanese cities, and now every member follows their activities as soloists or main bands. Their music is amazing, I think I like almost all their songs, and for this reason is my second favorite Japanese band :D (Bloodsucker 4ever!!).
